Asterix 2005

In conjunction with a new feature-lengh cartoon film called Asterix and The Vikings, and a new Asterix book, PEZ will be reissuing the Asterix dispenser set. The set will include Asterix, Obelix, Getafix, and a Roman soldier.

Attention all collectors: PEZ is relaunching the classic Asterix dispenser series
2005 is a year to celebrate for everybody who is a friend of the Gauls. Not only is a brand new Asterix book coming out in the autumn, they are also working flat out on a new Asterix adventure movie.
In keeping with tradition, it has not yet been revealed where Asterix is headed in this new adventure. Insiders reckon that the invincible Gaul will be setting off on a journey seeing as the last episode "Asterix und The Actress" was set in a small village in northwest Gaul.
At the same time a young animation film group are working closely with Albert Uderzo to bring a new feature-length Asterix cartoon film to the screen: "Asterix and The Vikings", a story based closely on "Asterix and The Normans". The new film is to combine hand-drawn and computer-generated animation in a new way.
It is futile to attempt to summarize the adventures of Asterix, Obelix and Dogmatix; they have been essential reading for comic fans of all ages for years. Because they parody the stereotypes of different nationalities, acknowledge current affairs and have been translated into hundreds of different languages and dialects – including Latin and ancient Greek – the books are also a welcome sight in schools.
Of course the Asterix celebrations this year provide PEZ with an ideal opportunity to re-launch the classic dispenser collection. With the Asterix series the invincible Gauls become timeless toys for sweet-toothed fans both young and old. The series consists of 4 PEZ dispensers: Asterix of course, the smart Gaul who tackles every adventure with cunning and astuteness. Then there is his best friend, the much-loved and portly Obelix who fell into a cauldron of magic potion as a child. Getafix the wise Druid who discovered the secret of the magic potion that makes you invincible. And finally a Roman, one of the many whose helmets Obelix loves to collect. Which cunningly brings us back to PEZ - also a firm favorite among collectors.
Retailers will be supplied with special POS materials. The Asterix collection consists of blister packs, impulse cartons, single stack displays and quarter pallets. Long may the humor and play-and-learn potential of the fearless Gaul be available to the youngest generations.
